Collaborating with Audio Concepts

Mainline Connects collaborated with Audio Concepts, a Bahamas-based integrator, to program and commission a Q-SYS installation at the newly renovated waterpark within the Baha Mar Resort. The scope of the project involved designing a robust audiovisual system that could handle background music (BGM), paging, scheduling, and auxiliary inputs for a large, multi-zoned waterpark.

Audio Concepts had already installed a variety of QSC amplifiers, speakers, and control systems, but required specialized programming expertise to bring everything online. That’s where Mainline Connects came in. Utilizing our deep knowledge of Q-SYS, an open-architecture audio, video, and control platform, we developed a custom solution that delivered flawless performance across the entire waterpark.

Project Challenges and Solutions

The challenge with many AV integrators is their capacity to install hardware, but often lacking sufficient resources for complex system programming. Audio Concepts reached out to us specifically because of the sophisticated nature of the Q-SYS system. Unlike fixed-architecture audio processors, Q-SYS requires precise custom programming to define every function, from audio channel routing to control logic and interface creation. This was critical to delivering a highly flexible solution for Baha Mar's varied audio needs.

Mainline Connects worked remotely, interfacing with the on-site team via phone and remote desktop to complete the programming. We developed an intuitive, visually appealing touchscreen interface that allowed staff to control audio levels, switch BGM streams, make live announcements, and play pre-recorded messages. These touch panels featured customized layouts, including resort logos, maps, and color schemes to ensure ease of use for staff across different areas of the park.

Meeting Tight Deadlines

A key challenge of this project was timing. The park's opening date was fast approaching, but access to the site was granted late into construction. Working in tandem with the integrator, we scheduled programming in short increments during off-hours, either early in the morning or after the park closed in the evening. This ensured that any system uploads or adjustments didn’t disrupt the park's operations.

Delivering a Tailored Experience

The final system featured:

  • Multiple QSC touchscreens for volume and source control, accessible via phone or on-site.
  • A QSC ILA system for special event audio.
  • Bluetooth connections for VIP areas, giving guests personalized audio experiences in cabanas.
  • BGM and paging control for multiple zones, with staff access to a microphone and pre-recorded announcements for operational updates or emergencies.

Thanks to our responsive and flexible approach, we were able to deliver the fully operational system on time for Day 1, with ongoing tweaks implemented seamlessly after hours. The end result was a state-of-the-art audio system that met the client’s needs for reliability, usability, and high-quality sound throughout the park.
